MONUMENT VALLEY, aka John Ford's Valley
Visit the land of legendary film director, John Ford. Ford made seven movies here in the 20th century. His classics include:
1939's Stagecoach through Cheyenne Autumn in 1964, those magnificent seven, which also include My Darling Clementine (1946), Fort Apache (1948), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), The Searchers (1956) and Sargeant Rutledge (1960). When one envisions the Old West of movie lore, you cannot help but think of Monument Valley. Do you remember the opening scene with Clint Eastwood in the movie The Eiger Sanction? It was shot among the chimney rocks of the monument.
Tours of the valley are provided by the Navajo tribe with lunch at the historic Goulding's Lodge. Relive the history.
BRYCE CANYON
Thousands of delicately carved spires rise in brilliant color from the amphiteaters of Bryce Canyon National Park. Millions of years of wind, water and geologic mayhem have shaped and etched the pink cliffs at Bryce, which isn't actually a canyon but the eastern slope of the Paunsaguant Plateau. Lunch and van transportation from the airport to the many breathtaking views and photo opportunities are provided with this spectacular tour.
